Born and raised in Salisbury, John specialises in pastel and graphite pencil drawings of people and animals.
In 2019, after working in Swimming Pools and Leisure Centres for 48 years, he retired and took up art again.

From a very young age he discoverd that he had a natural flare for painting and drawings. In 1970 he was a runner up competition prize winner for BCC TV's Blue Peter designing a train of the future and was honoured to recieve a Blue Peter lapel badge.

In the mid-eighties John was appointed as a part-time freelance illustrator for the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association, now rebranded as Swim England Qualifications) National Publications and Visual Aids Department. He produce a series of ink line drawings for Know The Game Sports Book on the Teaching of Swimming as well as illustrations for swimming educational wall charts and OHPs (overhead transparencies).
